Will Netbook Dell Mini Be A Great Purchase?

Known widely for it´s capability of creating and mouting personalized PCs, it is no wonder that DELL came up with a reasonably customizable Netbook model. We all know how common it is for companies to provide inexisting or almost inexisting customization options and right now Dell might have hit the spot, providing a Netbook that just might be able to fit yours and many others’ personalities.

Their initial models are going to be equiped with 1Giga RAM with the oportunity of chosing between a 120GB or a 160GB Hard-drive. In a short period of time though, buyers will be able to chose a model with 2GB RAM and 250GB Hard-drives. When it comes to connectivity, computers will be bare WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet 10/100 and HDMI system compatibilities. Besides, there will be a 3-in-1 built-in flash memory readers along with 3 USB plugs and 1 in-out sound/mic jack.

Luckily, in this model we have been presented (literally) with a relatively comfortable keyboard unlike the Netbook Mini 9 models. It is clear that this time there are no misused spaces or missing keys of any sort. Besides greater importance keys like SHIFR, TAB and CTRL come in quite a decent size. The touchpad on the other hand is shaped in a long letterbox form with its buttons being positioned in the lower-left and lower-right corners of the pad, which doesn’t make it the best touchpad in the market but, on the other hand, allows the netbook not to be wieldly, which is quite important. In comparison it´s still better than the touchpad of the HP’s Mini 110 though.

There is a slightly relevant catch though, the Mini10 utilizes the z530 vresion of the CPU unlike many netbooks out there who are equiped with the N270 version. Although both processors have a 1.6GHz speed, the Z ones tend to get lower levels of temperature and was specifically designed for mobile internet devices and netbooks. The Z530 model consumes less energy but the problem is that sometimes the processor is too slow when it comes to multi-tasking. The bad conclusion of all this is that the Mini 10” cannot process high-resolution (720p) videos and it doens’t support softwares and small games as well as the others.

As for an overview of the Mini 10” it probably gathers pretty much everything you expect in an extra-small portable minibook. It looks ok with a compact design, a not-so-well-shaped but still well equiped multi-touch touchpad and a lasting trustworthy battery. Despite all of those good qualities what makes that netbook jump to our attention is the fact that it comes with a built-in 3G modem and a ready-to-use HDMI socket, which transmits image and sound directly to a television device through a single cable. The downside is the limited processor but whoever goes for a netbook option isn’t normally willing to get applications that ask too much anyway. All-in-all its price seems to be quite fair and it looks quite sharp too!
